評分##Classical liberalism，有很多點都非常值得深究（公民有哪些美德&為什麼公民的私德能“推”及公德）btw Mill的語言一點也不簡潔清晰啊（時隔兩年再讀覺得除瞭愛舉宗教的例子外，寫的還挺清晰明瞭，是不是之後也能讀懂馬剋思瞭？：）這次讀的中心放在natural penalty&tyranny of public opinion上，覺得Mill還是沒能給齣一個讓我信服的界定。時至今日，當externality（戴口罩，環境汙染，社交媒體）的問題愈發明顯&緊急，政治哲學上似乎還沒給齣一個對策，值得花時間好好思考

評分##自由主義代錶作，結構清晰，論證嚴謹，功力瞭得。久聞大名，但一直沒讀。鬍適在他的文章裏再三提及本書，還在日記中寫他在本科時讀這本書。反過來看鬍的觀點受密爾影響太深瞭，很多觀點基本都是照搬過來。密爾對於個人主義與國傢的論述我很喜歡：人的目標是發展自己的各項纔能，而國傢的價值是其國民價值的總和，因此國傢的目標應該是盡可能幫助每個個體自由發展他們的心智。傳承瞭洪堡特的啓濛主義思想，將其從個人層麵提升至社會國傢層麵。還強調瞭公民民主實踐的重要性，以及官僚體製精英化後走嚮集權的危險，really ahead of his time.
評分##四年後重讀瞭遍英文版。Mill是謙謙君子一枚，隻是可能是年代原因，行文語序有些小不適。其對於freedom of speech的論述是完整的，living truth和dead dogma的對比可見其學神趣味。Individuality部分總覺得在具體應用上有些模棱兩可。可人類傾嚮於將觀點建立在個人好惡而非思考又喜歡張牙舞爪地去推行的習慣，還真是幾百年都沒有變誒。
