In this classic discussion of the limits of individual freedom in a civilized society Mill defends the view that extensive freedom of speech is a precondition not just for individual happiness, but for a flourishing. //paris
評分##米爾直覺般地（這個很厲害）給齣瞭自由及其界限的基本原則，影響瞭後世許多人；基本想法還是基於功利主義的自由觀，帶有功利主義固有的問題；這本書語言比較囉嗦繁雜，論證比較粗糲，作者邏輯也不是特彆強，但仍然是討論自由的問題時一本繞不開的書。

評分##Classical liberalism，有很多點都非常值得深究（公民有哪些美德&為什麼公民的私德能“推”及公德）btw Mill的語言一點也不簡潔清晰啊（時隔兩年再讀覺得除瞭愛舉宗教的例子外，寫的還挺清晰明瞭，是不是之後也能讀懂馬剋思瞭？：）這次讀的中心放在natural penalty&tyranny of public opinion上，覺得Mill還是沒能給齣一個讓我信服的界定。時至今日，當externality（戴口罩，環境汙染，社交媒體）的問題愈發明顯&緊急，政治哲學上似乎還沒給齣一個對策，值得花時間好好思考
