　　在理论物理学中，我们试图引入一些能够与事实（即测量结果）相关联的数学符号来理解各类现象。关于这些符号，我们使用了能令人联想到它们与测量的相互关系的名称。这样，符号就同语言联系起来了。然后，这些符号通过严格的定义和公理的系统彼此联系起来，最后，再用符号间的方程式来表示自然规律。于是，这些方程的解的无限多样性将对应于这部分自然中可能出现的特殊现象的无限多样性。这样，在符号与测量间有着关联的情况下，数学方案就代表了这类现象。正是这种关联容许用普通语言来表达自然规律，因为由作用与观测组成的实验总是能用日常语言来描述的。
