这是一本非常好的书，只是那个看起来还有点吃力，生词比较多。

本书作者爱德华索普1932年8月14日出生在芝加哥，父亲曾经参加过一战。索普是最早使用纯数学技术赚钱的人之一：先是拉斯维加斯21点的赌桌前,后是华尔街。索普小的时候很是淘气，到了高中后就开始琢磨赌博。1954年索普进入加州大学洛杉矶分校攻读物理学的研究生，但是仍然在思考轮盘赌博的事情，事实上这也是量化思想的起源：用数学来描述轮盘赌背后所隐藏的看似随机系统的机制。索普相信，他有能力制造出可以对轮盘看似随机的运动进行统计预测的机器。
