内容简介

益少之时，初入乡校，闱游学子道先生之文行，愿一识而未之得。既冠，始获从先生游，闻有所著《窗间纪闻》一百则，贯穿经史百氏之说，开抉古人议论之所未到，求而读之，中心跃然，如入武库，且喜且愕。于是力从先生求广其所未闻。又数年，先生复出百则以示益曰：「吾之精力略尽于此，然世俗方以词章华赡相夸，吾书之出，恐未免有覆瓿之诮，亦姑俟子云于后世耳。顾念非子莫可与言者。」益因从而析之，合二百则。

精彩书摘

老杜诗当是诗中六经，他人诗乃诸子之流也。杜诗有高妙语，如云：「王侯与蝼蚁，同尽随丘墟。愿闻第一义，回向心地初。」可谓深入理窟，宋以来诗人无此句也。「心地初」乃《庄子》所谓「游心于淡，合气于漠」之义。
杜诗句句可出题目
老杜诗如董仲舒策，句句典实，堪出题目。余人诗非不佳，但可出题者终少耳。好诗与好句正自不同。
杜子美赠花卿诗
世人读子美《赠花卿》诗有「此曲只应天上有，人间那得几回闻」之句，因误认花卿为歌妓者多矣。按花卿，盖西川牙将，尝与西川节度崔光速平段子璋，遂大掠东川。故子美复有《戏赠花卿歌》。其卒章云：「人道我卿绝代无，天子何不唤取守京都。」当时花卿跋扈不法，有僭用礼乐之意。子美所赠，盖微而显者也。不然，岂天上有曲而人间不得闻乎？
韩退之诗
退之送惠师、灵师、文畅、澄观等诗，语皆排斥，独于灵师似若褒惜而意实微显。如「围棋六博醉，花月罗婵娟」之句，此岂道人所宜为者？其卒章云：「方将敛之道，且欲冠其颠。」于澄观诗亦云「我欲收敛加冠巾」，此便是勒令还俗也。
韩退之符读书城南
《符读书城南》，有「少长」语。本出前汉《匈奴传》云：「儿能引弓射鸟鼠。少长，则射狐兔用为食。」少长，犹稍长也。
韩退之嘲富儿
韩退之嘲京师富儿，「不解文字饮，惟能醉红裙」。然予观退之，亦未是忘情者。退之自有二侍妾，名绛桃、柳枝，张籍诗所谓「乃出二侍女，合弹琵琶筝」者也。又尝有诗云：「银烛未销窗送曙，金钗半醉坐添春。」此岂空饮文字者耶？
周朴杜荀鹤诗
处士周朴，有能诗名于唐末。欧阳公尝称朴诗「风暖鸟声碎，日高花影重」之句。然此杜荀鹤诗，非朴句也，见《唐风集》。公言少时见其集，今不复传。又言郑谷诗号《云台编》者，今亦不行于世。然今市肆实有此集。二人唐史皆不为立传，独朴死巢兵，不屈其节，因见巢传中。余家有朴诗百余篇，尝为之序，异日当别加搜访遗逸为全集，以传于世。
