　　《費恩曼物理學講義》(第2捲)20世紀60年代初，美國一些理工科大學鑒於當時的大學基礎物理教學與現代科學技術的發展不相適應，紛紛試行教學改革，加利福尼亞理工學院就是其中之一。該校於1961年9月至1963年5月特請著名物理學傢費恩曼主講一二年級的基礎物理課，事後又根據講課錄音編輯齣版瞭《費恩曼物理學講義》。本講義共分三捲，第1捲包括力學、相對論、光學、氣體分子動理論、熱力學、波等，第2捲主要是電磁學，第3捲是量子力學。全書內容十分豐富，在深度和廣度上都超過瞭傳統的普通物理教材。

內容簡介

　　For some forty years Richard P. Feynman focussed his curiosity on the mysterious workings of the physical world, and bent his intellect to searching out the order in its chaos. Now, he has given two years of his ability and his energy to his Lectures on Physics for beginning students. For them he has distilled the essence of his knowledge, and has created in terms they can hope to grasp a picture of the physicists universe. To his lectures he has brought the brilliance and clarity of his thought, the originality and vitality of his approach, and the contagious enthusiasm of his delivery. It was a joy to behold. . The first years lectures formed the basis for the first volume of this set of books. We have tried in this the second volume to make some kind of a record of a part of the second years lectures--which were given to the sophomore class during the 1962-1963 academic year. The rest of the second years lectures will make up Volume III.

在他的晚年，費曼努力地做好他的前妻阿琳（費曼一生的摯愛，因肺結核而匆匆逝去）認為重要的事情。他開始繪畫，並畫齣瞭很好的素描和油畫作品。1986年，挑戰者號失事後，費曼受委托調查失事原因。費曼做瞭著名的O型環演示實驗，隻用一杯冰水和一隻橡皮環，就在國會嚮公眾揭示瞭挑戰者失事的根本原因——低溫下橡膠失去彈性。1988年2月15日，他與世長辭，終年69歲。他去世後的第二天，學生們在加州理工學院10層高的圖書館頂樓掛起一條橫幅，上麵寫著：“我們愛你，迪剋”。
