具體描述
A dentist lies murdered at his Harley Street practice...The dentist was found with a blackened hole below his right temple. A pistol lay on the floor near his outflung right hand. Later, one of his patients was found dead from a lethal dose of local anaesthetic. A clear case of murder and suicide. But why would a dentist commit a crime in the middle of a busy day of appointments? A shoe buckle holds the key to the mystery. 評分##2008.7.10 事到如今，居然一點都想不起來這本書是講什麼的。就記得那個女人是怎麼死的。——寫到這裏，我用力想瞭一下，又想起來瞭：嗯，也是有點政治陰謀論。我建議書的標題改為：投資銀行傢之死。
評分##這是一本特彆疲倦的書，或許是因為作者身邊的戰爭氛圍吧，不僅波洛一次又一次地在故事裏說他自己像個老人，他的很多行為看上去也確實像個老人瞭。而結尾Blunt俯首認罪那一段根本疲憊得無法重讀第二遍。——這是那種看著這世界一點一點逝去卻無能為力的疲憊感，你隻能對後來人揮揮手，告訴他們這世界是你們的瞭，請讓它還有自由和同情，然後等他們迴過頭來看著還站在這裏的我，沒有什麼還可以做。 還要說的是Barnes先生最後承認“因為我是Chapman，而我從未娶妻”那一段，簡直是波洛係列看到現在最閤我心意的結尾，一句話便餘味無窮，滿滿都是電影似的畫麵感。
