作者简介

Emily Arnold McCully is a children's author who was born in Galesburg, Illinois, in 1939, but grew up in Garden City, New York. She attended Brown University and Columbia University.

Among the awards she has won, Ms. McCully has received a Christopher Award for Picnic, and the Caldecott Medal for Mirette on the High Wire.

另外一到放假也是让家长很头疼的事。家长工作忙，没有足够的时间来陪孩子，而往昔的四合院也变成了高楼大厦，如今已再难看到成群邻居家的孩子一起户外嬉戏的场面。孩子大部份时间只好窝在家里，现在的孩子大都成了“宅男”“宅女”，成天泡在电脑电视旁，看电视玩游戏，这对孩子的成长是很不利的。如果孩子有了阅读的习惯，那么，阅读也就会是他们娱乐的方式之一，他们就会把一些精力放到阅读上，把良书变益友，从而增加生活的乐趣，把他们的目光从这些所谓的高科技产品移开。
