Agatha Christie was born in 1890 and created the detective Hercule Poirot in her debut novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles (1920). She achieved wide popularity with The Murder of Roger Ackroyd (1926) and produced a total of eighty novels and short-story collections over six decades.

　　不过我是真的喜欢阿加莎，我不要与她进行智慧的较量，因为我更愿意跟着她故事里的波罗先生、马普尔小姐和其他一些客串侦探一路走去看去。这一路上没有过多的血腥和恐怖，却有着很多对人性之恶的剖析和人心温暖的闪亮，所有的角力与斗争都貌似平静地暗自汹涌着，所有不经意就会错过的线索，都会最终指向真相大白的那个高潮。高潮过后，书中人物退场，或愤然，或悔然，或欣然，或黯然，留下我，仿佛追忆往事一般思索体味，心中之意一时难平。
