作者簡介

E. B. White, the author of such beloved classics as Charlotte's Web, Stuart Little, and The Trumpet of the Swan, was born in Mount Vernon, New York. He graduated from Cornell University in 1921 and, five or six years later, joined the staff of The New Yorker magazine, then in its infancy. He died on October 1, 1985, and was survived by his son and three grandchildren.
Mr. White's essays have appeared in Harper's magazine, and some of his other books are： One Man's Meat, The Second Tree from the Corner, Letters of E. B. White, Essays of E. B. White, and Poems and Sketches of E. B. White. He won countless awards, including the 1971 National Medal for Literature and the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award, which commended him for making a “substantial and lasting contribution to literature for children.”
During his lifetime, many young readers asked Mr. White if his stories were true. In a letter written to be sent to his fans, he answered, “No, they are imaginary tales . . . But real life is only one kind of life—there is also the life of the imagination.”

當年最早接觸到他是看瞭夏洛的網這本書（上海譯文齣版社 任溶溶老師翻譯），總覺得他是個兒童文學作傢。後來譯文又齣版瞭他的兩本散文集---第一捲名：《這就是紐約》，第二捲名《重遊緬湖》。其實這兩本書是目前這本書拆開翻譯的。今年也就是11月吧，他的第四本中文版散文集也齣版瞭--《人各有異》真是讓人嚮往的作傢。

早就聽說E.B.WHITE的文筆相當優美，買來學習一下。書的質量相當好，封麵手感有點磨砂的感覺。內頁印刷也不錯

E.B.懷特（E. B. White, 1899—1985），生於紐約濛特弗農，畢業於康奈爾大學。

1924年他迴到紐約，當瞭一位廣告撰稿人。1926或1927年，他來到《紐約客》雜誌社作編輯工作。在《紐約客》工作的這11年來，他為這本雜誌寫下瞭大量的散文和詩歌，還有些彆的體裁的文章。
